About The Position

Weldco-Beales Manufacturing is a 100% Inuvialuit-owned company with 80 years in operation, specializing in heavy equipment attachments for various industries across Canada, the USA, and internationally. They are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic/Journeyman Mechanic for their Edmonton manufacturing team. Requirements

  • High school completion required.
  • Alberta Journeyman Ticket in Heavy Duty Mechanic or Red Seal Certification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of all safety practices.
  • Good knowledge of all heavy equipment and power tools and their use and care.
  • Communication skills to read, listen, write and speak in a clear and concise manner to individuals at various levels.
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
  • Time management skills to productively complete work and meet all expected deadlines.
  • Organizational skills to plan out and coordinate his or her work in a logical manner.
  • Analytical skills to identify simple problems and find a solution, or seek advice from the supervisor.
  • Learns quickly and is willing to ask questions.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Follows instructions thoroughly and uses good judgment.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethics (attendance, punctuality, reliability, honesty, etc.).

  • Previous experience with heavy equipment is an asset.
  • Previous experience with mobile cranes is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Practices safety in the work place at all times to ensure he or she does not endanger oneself or others in the plant.
  • Complies with all safety rules and practices as set by Occupational Health and Safety, WBM and any and all other relevant safety regulations and requirements.
  • Provides quality customer service to internal clients by responding to requests in a prompt and expeditious manner, and by producing quality service workmanship.
  • Interprets work orders and technical manuals.
  • Checks heavy equipment, mobile cranes, and other heavy construction, logging and mining equipment for proper performance.
  • Inspects equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnoses faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
  • Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations.
  • Cleans, lubricates and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment.
  • Performs repair work on heavy trucks if necessary.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs existing hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems.
  • Assembles hydraulic cranes according to engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Installs hydraulic components, including pumps, valves and cylinders.
  • Performs mechanical fitting of crane structures, booms and outriggers.
  • Mounts and aligns cranes onto truck chassis.
  • Tests all crane functions after installation for safety and performance.
  • Performs other duties in other departments as required, working overtime as required.
