About The Position

Finning is growing fast and is hiring Heavy Duty Mechanics to support their customer in the Oil Sands at the Suncor Fort Hills location. This role is ideal for individuals with large CAT mining equipment experience. The position involves working a 14x14 continuous shift, rotating days and nights, and will provide support to the Fort Hills shop and field. A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and wear a respirator. Union membership is required.

Requirements

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
• Strong field troubleshooting skills on the Caterpillar mining product line required
• Field technician experience
• Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
• Dedication to safety
• Ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
• Must become a member of the Union associated with this position.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
• Completion or be in the process of completing Finning S-level courses would also be considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
• Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
