About The Position

Finning is growing fast and is looking for Heavy Duty Mechanics to support field work at CNRL Albian. The Field Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of Caterpillar equipment, engines, and auxiliary equipment. Experience with large CAT mining equipment is highly valued for this role.

Requirements

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
• Experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic with strong knowledge on Caterpillar mining equipment in the field environment
• Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
• Must be comfortable working in an austere mining environment, often working alone with no supervision
• A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable
• Required to become a member of the Union associated with this position

Nice To Haves

• Large CAT mining equipment experience
• Mining equipment repair experience, especially 797 B & F Trucks, D11, 24 motor graders and 740 ADT

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
• Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
