This role is responsible for heavy cleaning work including the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces, the cleaning of all surfaces that must be reached by ladder or scaffolding and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin or compactor. The Heavy Duty Cleaner will dry mop, wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors using handheld or walk-behind buffing machines. They will also strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required. The role involves transporting garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactors, operating the compactor, and cleaning it regularly. Additionally, the Heavy Duty Cleaner will transport maintenance machinery, clean glass areas requiring ladders or scaffolding, clean washroom floors, stairwells, and elevator cabs where ladders are required. They will also wash walls and ceilings, dust light fixtures and ceiling fans, use pile lifting equipment to restore carpet, and shampoo broadloom using extracting equipment. Compliance with H&S regulations and company policies is mandatory, as is completing tasks assigned by the supervisor. The role also includes restocking single unit dispensers and keeping entrances and walkways clear of snow using manual shoveling or a snow blower during winter.
