About The Position

This is a part-time Heavy Duty Cleaner position responsible for extensive cleaning tasks. The role involves cleaning all hard floor surfaces, including washing, scrubbing, stripping, and finishing floors using manual or power equipment. Responsibilities also include collecting and removing garbage from drop points to a compactor, operating and cleaning the compactor, and transporting maintenance machinery. The cleaner will be required to clean glass areas, washrooms, stairwells, and elevator cabs, often utilizing ladders, scaffolding, or other extension equipment. Additionally, the role involves washing walls and ceilings, dusting light fixtures and fans, and using specialized equipment for carpet cleaning such as pile lifting, shampooing, and extracting. Adherence to Health & Safety regulations and company policies is mandatory.

Requirements

Previous cleaning/housekeeping experience is required.
Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Highly motivated and able to work independently.
Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
Must be able to use cleaning equipment.
Physical ability to carry out duties of the position.

Responsibilities

Dry mop, wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors using handheld or walk-behind buffing machines.
Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment.
Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor; operate and clean the compactor regularly.
Transport maintenance machinery between floors and job sites.
Clean glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment.
Clean washroom floors including washing, stripping, and finishing.
Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
Wash walls, ceilings and dust ceiling light fixtures and ceiling fans.
Use pile lifting equipment to restore certain types of carpet.
Shampoo broadloom and use extracting equipment to clean broadloom.
Comply with H&S regulations and company policies.
