About The Position

As a family owned company with 67 years of operational excellence, Nuss Truck and Equipment is proud to offer the following position of Heavy-Duty Auto Body Technician: We are seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Auto Body Technician to join our commercial truck collision repair team. The ideal candidate will have experience in repairing automotive collision damage on a wide range of commercial vehicles, semi-trucks and construction equipment. They will have a strong focus on safety, structural integrity, workmanship, and completing repairs according to manufacturer specification in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have previous auto body collision repair experience
  • Experience working on semi-trucks or commercial vehicles preferred
  • Ability to read repair estimates, technical manuals, and manufacturer repair procedures
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to safely lift heavy parts and work from ladders, platforms, or elevated equipment
  • Experience with frame and structural repair
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Those with CDL certification are favored
  • I-CAR, ASE, OEM, or other industry certifications favored
  • Knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles construction, body repair, and structural components preferred
  • Welding and metal fabrication experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles and semi-trucks to assess collision and body damage
  • Use welders, lifts, air tools and other shop equipment safely
  • Read and follow repair estimates, damage reports, manufacturer procedures, and diagrams
  • Repair or replace damaged panels, doors, hoods, bumpers, fairings
  • Complete bonded panel replacements and welding
  • Dent repair and surface preparation for primer
  • Remove and install components and related equipment
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and report additional damage as needed
  • Coordinate with team members, service advisors, painters and customers
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, alignment, finish, and vehicle safety
  • Keep the shop, work area, and equipment clean and organized
  • Follow OSHA, company, and workplace safety procedures
  • Participate in manufacturer or dealership-sponsored training programs as required
  • May assist with training or oversight of apprentices and interns as assigned.
