About The Position

The Heavy Diesel Mechanic is responsible for providing assistance to the Maintenance Supervisor for the optimisation of the performance, availability, and safety of mobile and fixed plant assets. The Heavy Diesel Mechanic will work closely with the Production Team and Maintenance Team to prioritise mechanical maintenance activities including Preventative and Ad hoc tasks to achieve maintenance targets and ensure statutory compliance and production continuity. As construction progresses at Mardie, we are continuing to shape our team. We are looking for an individual who is ready to be a part of this exciting project, where you will have the opportunity to really make an immediate impact.

Requirements

  • Qualified HD Mechanic with a minimum of three years' post-trade experience.
  • Ideally within the mining industry and with exposure to fixed plant operations.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management practices and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Proficiency in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems such as Pronto.
  • Confidence with computer systems, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneNote.
  • Current competencies in Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights.
  • A strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is critical to success in this role.
  • Required to provide a national police clearance that is not older than 3 months.
  • If site based must hold a WA White Card.
  • Must have current unrestricted working rights for Australia.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in salt processing is highly desirable.
  • Additional training in First Aid and Low Voltage Rescue considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritise maintenance activities to minimise production disruptions.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, with a focus on the weekly maintenance plan.
  • Effective cost management, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives with potential cost or production benefits.
  • Ensuring accurate data entry into the process plant reporting system to track downtime and safety.
  • Complying with the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
  • Upholding Duty of Care responsibilities.
