About The Position

J. Banicki Construction (JBC) is looking for a Superintendent with experience in roadway earthwork and urban reconstruction. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale roadway projects (e.g., $70 million), including grading, sub-grading, preparing long strips of roadway for construction, and excavation. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and project schedules, and directly supervising jobsite crews and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of roadway superintendent or Foreperson work experience leading heavy equipment crews (e.g., grader, trackhoe, backhoe, loader, crane, etc.).
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience and understanding of all phases of roadway / highway construction.
  • A minimum of 10 years of roadway, earth work, road winding type projects.
  • A minimum of 10 years of DOT roadway projects.
  • Four or more years related experience and/or training; or a bachelor degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ to 7 years experience
  • Minimum Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Understand, enforce, and carry out Banicki Safety Policies.
  • Create Job Hazard Analysis for assigned tasks and perform safety inspections.
  • Read and understand plans, specifications, and local building codes.
  • Schedules and documents all required inspections, quality testing, or other compliance requirements.
  • Comply with Dust Control, SWPPP, and environmental requirements.
  • Complete daily reports including employee hours, quantities completed, and daily diary.
  • Read and understand project baseline schedules and generate three-week construction schedules weekly.
  • Schedule and order materials, inspections, equipment, and work force to meet project schedules, productions, and specifications.
  • Directly supervise jobsite crews to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and adherence to construction schedules.
  • Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job, including a basic understanding of equipment limits and design purposes.
  • Manage all day-to-day operations on the project and keep the project management team apprised.
