Heavy Civil Intern
About The Position
Scotty’s Contracting & Stone is seeking a motivated Heavy Civil Intern to join our team. This hands-on role offers real-world experience working directly on active construction jobsites, supporting daily operations across grading, utilities, and earthwork projects. Interns will work alongside experienced operators, foremen, and project teams to gain exposure to heavy equipment operations, site logistics, and field execution. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop a strong foundation in heavy civil construction while learning how projects come together in the field.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Strong interest in heavy civil construction and field operations
- Strong work ethic, communication skills, and willingness to learn
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Nice To Haves
- Previous construction or equipment experience is a plus, but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily operations on active heavy civil jobsites
- Support crews with site preparation, grading, and excavation.
- Gain exposure to and assist around heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and haul trucks
- Follow all safety protocols while working around equipment, traffic, and active work zones
- Provide general support to operators, foremen, and project teams as needed
