About The Position

J.E. Shurden Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Site Supervisor to lead field operations on projects throughout the United States. This is a travel-based position requiring extensive travel and extended stays at project locations. Candidates must be willing to work away from home for multiple days or weeks at a time based on project needs.

Requirements

  • Previous heavy civil construction leadership experience as a Supervisor, Foreman, Superintendent, or similar role
  • Experience leading field crews and coordinating heavy equipment and construction activities
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and schedules
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced field environment
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Basic computer and mobile-device proficiency
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise heavy civil construction crews and daily field operations
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and daily work activities
  • Plan and sequence work to maintain project schedules and productivity
  • Monitor work for quality and compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Coordinate excavation, grading, underground utility, concrete, and other heavy civil activities as applicable to the project
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and project requirements
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and timekeeping
  • Communicate project progress, delays, material needs, and field concerns to company leadership
  • Enforce company and jobsite safety requirements, including proper PPE
  • Conduct or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, inspections, and project meetings
  • Promptly report injuries, incidents, equipment issues, and significant jobsite concerns
