About The Position
Magellan Aerospace, Glendale specializes in manufacturing precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings and is hiring a Heat Treat Operator. The position assists with operating, controlling, and monitoring heat-treating and related equipment; preparing customer-supplied parts; loading and unloading furnaces and other processing equipment; and following written shop-order and customer procedures. The operator also supports the straightening department and performs other assigned duties. Heat-treating knowledge is preferred but not required; in-house training is available for required operator certifications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds, bend, climb, stoop, and stand.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification; training is available in-house.
- Ability to pass a vision eye exam.
- Heat Treat Operator Certification; training is available in-house.
- Good organizational skills.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of heat-treating processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation, control, and monitoring of heat-treating and related equipment.
- Prepare customer-supplied parts for processing.
- Load and unload furnaces, bins, baskets, fixtures, and other items.
- Follow written procedures on shop orders and customer paperwork.
- Bring irregularities or non-conformities to the attention of a supervisor or management.
- Promote safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Assist the straightening department.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by the position.
