About The Position

Set up, operate, or tend machine or tools to Quench Parts. To check hardness (Rockwell HRC) to verify in desired specification. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Professional, technical or administrative training; including knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques, and a broad shop background in a recognized trade, equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship training and supervisorial training.
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • Less than a High School Diploma
  • Work-related experience is not required to qualify for this position; however, there is a minimum of 3 months to adapt to specific job itself.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using indicators and micrometers.
  • Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
  • Read work orders to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
  • Load workpieces into machines.
  • Set up, operate, or tend machines to straighten metal.
  • Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
  • Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools.
  • Clean machines and keep work area clear of debris.
  • Set the correct Temperature for the High-Heat, Pre-Heat, and Water according to materials.
  • Check Oil and Water Levels.
  • Set the correct TIME according to the Thickness of the Material
  • Select the orders to be Quenched according to Supervisor instructions. If there is no instructions from Supervisor follow the Due Date.
  • Load the Hangers properly according to the Diameter and Thickness of the Blades.
  • Temperature for 8660 Material is 30 Degrees below 4135 Material Temperature.
  • When big Blades need to be Quenched make sure the Oil covers the Blades completely.
  • Make sure to check the Rockwell on 1 to 2 pcs per order depending on quantity of order.
  • If the Rockwell is not correct, report to Supervisor immediately.
  • Key in all orders after completed, if the order is short report to Supervisor.
  • Make sure 1st Shift Operator communicates to 2nd Shift Operator in order to inform Operator of daily schedule and any Special Instructions.
  • Make sure to Sign complete or partial on all Work Orders.
