About The Position

Kent is looking for a Heat Exchanger Subject Matter Expert to support a SAGD project. This role plays a critical part in the design, review, and optimization of heat transfer equipment used in heavy-oil thermal production, including shell-and-tube exchangers, air coolers, and specialty exchangers. You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring exchanger designs meet thermal, mechanical, and operational requirements across FEED, detailed design, and execution phases. This role combines advanced engineering analysis with client-facing technical leadership and site support.

Requirements

Mechanical Engineering degree
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered with APEGA
SAGD experience
Strong expertise in heat exchanger design, rating, and troubleshooting
Experience reviewing vendor packages and technical submittals
Ability to support site work and inspections
Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
Highly analytical and detail-driven in heat transfer and mechanical design
Client-focused and confident when providing technical guidance
Reliable, professional, and solution-oriented in project environments

Responsibilities

Engineering and reviewing heat exchanger designs and specifications
Supporting thermal sizing, rating, and performance analysis
Reviewing vendor quotations, drawings, and fabrication data
Assessing fouling, vibration, and thermal performance risks
Preparing and reviewing material requisitions (MRs) and data sheets
Participating in FAT and SAT activities
Supporting site inspections, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Providing technical guidance to clients and internal engineering teams
Performing other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management, within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role.
