About The Position

The Heat and Vent Instrument Systems Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration for the Institute’s buildings and equipment. This role involves inspecting and testing heating and air conditioning systems to ensure proper functioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electronic temperature control systems, electronic circuitry, and other building system equipment. The technician will maintain, diagnose, and repair microprocessors and associated instrumentation related to Building Automation Systems, perform tests and adjustments of input and output devices, and set up and maintain history and documentation files. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting electronic circuitry, receiving work order assignments, ordering materials, completing tasks accurately with detailed written comments on work orders, and completing daily time entry with comments. The role also entails performing scheduled preventative maintenance on building equipment, cleaning the work area, maintaining tools and equipment, and providing customers with updates on work progress.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in applicable trade/field, or formal controls training in mechanical operations and maintenance
  • Valid driver’s license
  • General understanding of the Institute’s Building Automation Systems
  • Ability to read a ladder diagram, blueprints and schematics
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Phoenix control valves preferred
  • Experience working in labs

Responsibilities

  • Repairing and maintaining heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration for the Institute’s buildings and equipment

  • Troubleshoots electronic circuitry
  • Receives work order assignments, orders materials and completes tasks accurately with detailed written comments provided on work orders upon completion
  • Completes time entry to supervisor on a daily basis with comments
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on building equipment
  • Cleans work area and maintains tools and equipment
  • Provides customers with information about the progress of work
