About The Position

The Healthy Start Supervisor oversees the services provided by the Healthy Start program and directly supervises the Healthy Start Family Support Workers (FSWs). This role is responsible for hiring, training, weekly check-ins, administrative support, and performance management of FSWs. The supervisor ensures that team members understand and meet program activities, schedules, and documentation timeframes. They will lead the monitoring of service delivery and collaborate with the Program Manager to collect and synthesize data for reporting. This position works with the Perinatal and Family Health Program Manager and Home Visiting Director to develop and implement program services, including outreach, in-home (and virtual) visits, and community resource referrals. They will also collaborate with the Community Engagement Program Manager to identify recruitment needs and support outreach activities. The supervisor may attend meetings with funders and represent the program within the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work or related field.
• Three years of experience in case management with women of reproductive age, families, or children.
• Experience with providing family-centered, strengths-based services to culturally diverse communities and families.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• A working knowledge and understanding of patient/client confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations are essential.
• Must possess knowledge of community resources and the ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in home visiting with a background in prevention and/or health services preferred.
• Knowledge of infant and child development, parent-child attachment, maternal-infant health, and dynamics of child abuse and neglect preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
• Experience with or knowledge of reflective practice preferred.
• Bilingual in second language used by the target audience (in this case, Spanish) is preferred.
• Supervisory experience a plus.
• Individuals who identify as a trusted member of and/or has a unique understanding of the community served will be prioritized.
• Individuals with experience and/or passion for maternal and infant health is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire FSWs, orient, identify staff training needs and work with each member to meet expectations.
• Meet with each FSW weekly for 1 - 2 hours, identify issues and concerns experienced by staff, implement a plan of action to address concerns, review documentation, shadow FSWs as needed.
• Support and build the skills of all FSWs.
• Evaluate each FSW’s performance within the required timeframe and coach FSWs toward the achievement of their goals and program objectives.
• Demonstrate respect for the parallel process by supporting, guiding, and building on the strengths of staff so that they may best support, guide, and build on the strengths of the families served.
• Ensure the required number of home visits is conducted on a monthly basis and all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Host monthly Healthy Start meetings with staff for clinical and program updates, address concerns and provide a venue for professional development and camaraderie.
• Work directly with Program Manager and Director of Home Visiting to build and manage Healthy Start program services.
• Maintain a cohesive and productive team who have all necessary training, support, and supervision to meet Healthy Start goals defined by Work Plan and program outline.
• Provide guidance and support to all team members in efforts to minimize attrition and support professional development.
• Provide back-up to FSWs in the event that they are unable to work with a family, which may include being on call nights or weekends.
• Build and maintain relationships with leadership staff at Mary’s Center and with community partners to promote and ensure referrals of Healthy Start participants.
• Maintain data collection methods, tools, and systems to effectively monitor and evaluate Healthy Start services and outcomes.
• Support CHWs to complete documentation and reporting expectations in a timely manner.
• Compile Healthy Start participant records and statistics, reports outlining enrollments, referrals, and assignments as appropriate.
• Provide statistical and program reporting information to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
• Review screening and assessment paperwork in accordance with project, evaluation, and funding requirements.
• Approve and make referrals to Child and Family Services Administration (CFSA) to report child abuse and neglect as needed.
• Maintain a small caseload of participants, 3 – 5 participants, providing Healthy Start home visiting services to families, adhering to program guidelines and Mary’s Center programs and policies. This responsibility may be adjusted according to demands and deliverables in other supervisor responsibility areas.
