About The Position

The Vanderbilt YMCA is seeking a Healthy Lifestyle Coordinator to support the Healthy Lifestyles department by delivering consistent, high-quality healthy lifestyle programming and enhancing customer service and member retention. The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator’s portfolio may include programs such as Fitness Center and Equipment, Personal Training, Group Exercise, Fitness Center Essentials, Y Fit Start, and Youth Sports, Arts, and Movement (YSAM) Programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Current adult CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Knowledge of Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y and Principles of Member Health & Wellness.
  • Foundations of Listen First.
  • Foundations of Strength and Conditioning, and Group Exercise, if applicable.
  • Applicable industry certifications.
  • Ability to work with participants of varying experience and skill levels.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework is preferred.
  • Attend the YMCA hospitality training within ninety (90) days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating program staff.
  • Provide outstanding hospitality to all members and guests, acting as a proactive agent by initiating professional relationships with members regarding their needs, concerns, and questions, and accommodating those needs and concerns.
  • Assist with the management of programs to maximize member satisfaction, revenue, and compliance with the YMCA standards.
  • Provide members with opportunities that will increase their involvement, sense of belonging, and ownership of the YMCA.
  • Assist in the development, control, and tracking of departmental budget in accordance with branch and Association guidelines.
  • Research, facilitate, and build quality programs that provide member satisfaction.
  • Set annual priority objectives to improve service based on annual staff and customer evaluation/feedback.
  • Serve as a point of contact for all Healthy Lifestyles staff.
  • Track and ensure that staff certifications are current and on file.
  • Assist in scheduling, maintaining, and managing facility and equipment in partnership with the branch’s maintenance department.
  • Execute administrative duties, i.e., tracking reports, schedules, equipment, supplies, and payroll.
  • Maintain required certifications, which are tracked in Club Connect.
  • Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action in emergency situations.
  • Support community and promotional special events as needed.
  • Serve as a branch Manager on Duty (MOD), as assigned.
