About The Position

The Healthy Aging Programmer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering recreational, social, cultural, and wellness programming for participants attending the Seniors Day Centre. The role supports active and healthy aging by enhancing quality of life, reducing social isolation, and promoting participants’ physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.

Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Recreation, Gerontology, Recreation Therapy, Community Support, Social Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience planning, coordinating, or delivering recreational, wellness, social, or community‑based programming, preferably with seniors or other priority populations.
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding of supporting seniors living with dementia, disabilities, mobility limitations, or chronic health conditions, ideally in a community or group‑based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver regular recreational, social, educational, and wellness programs for seniors.
  • Facilitate activities that promote physical activity, cognitive engagement, social connection, and overall, well‑being.
  • Provide day‑to‑day support to participants during programs and Centre activities.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that supports participant dignity and independence.
