About The Position

The Healthcare Technician must possess the skills and knowledge to provide population-specific care. They will assist with data collection for objective assessments, identify patient needs and requirements, and report to the charge nurse/team leader. The role involves coordinating with the healthcare team to transport patients to various locations for medical tests, X-rays, scans, and surgery. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Completion of Health Care Technician course at BRHC upon hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required/ or attend first offered BLS class upon hire to obtain certification.
  • Experience as nurse aide or orderly preferred.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co-worker.
  • Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts.
  • Ability to build good relationships with others based upon a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountability for all actions in carrying out job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure self-compliance with regulatory and government standards of care.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skill to perform direct personal care of the patient.
  • Hold self-accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient care in his/her work area and throughout hospital.
  • Organize care and prioritize it by communicating and collaborating with others for a multidisciplinary approach to provide a continuity of care.
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of personal care for patient and family.
  • Transports patients safely to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner.
  • Assists and positions patients in and out of beds, chairs, and vehicles to prepare for transport. Assist with patient robing and disrobing.
  • Transports medical equipment, supplies and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.
  • Clean rooms and equipment as requested.
  • Round in patient reception areas, update patients of wait times, offer warm blankets, etc.
  • Comfort patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrate caring and cultural sensitivity.
  • Provide support as a Nurse Assistant and Constant Observer as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
