About The Position

The DSI Healthcare Security Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, employees, and hospital assets. This position provides day-to-day leadership of security operations, supervises security personnel, ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards, and coordinates response to incidents, emergencies, and security-related concerns. The supervisor promotes a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, military police, corrections, or a related public safety field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience leading security personnel.
  • Experience developing schedules, conducting training, coaching employees, and enforcing policies and procedures required.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
  • Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of security operations, investigations, access control, and emergency response.
  • Ability to establish a high-performance, customer-service-oriented work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Healthcare Administration, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, military service, law enforcement experience, or healthcare security leadership experience may be considered.
  • Previous hospital or healthcare security experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with incident investigations, emergency response, workplace violence prevention, and security program administration preferred.
  • IAHSS Basic, Advanced, Supervisor, or Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) certification.
  • Deescalation Training (CPI, MOAB, MHFA MAB)
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 certifications.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate the performance of all assigned security personnel.
  • Prepare schedules, assignments, and staffing plans to ensure adequate security coverage.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, disturbances, and safety concerns while ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training to security staff.
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, and post checks to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and prepare accurate reports and recommendations.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with hospital leadership, staff, patients, visitors, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Promote a professional, customer-focused environment through respectful communication and service.
  • Support workplace violence prevention, de-escalation efforts, emergency preparedness, and life safety initiatives.
  • Ensure security operations align with applicable healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational objectives.
