About The Position

The Security Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the delivery of quality services on a specific shift at an assigned UofL Health location. A Security Supervisor acts as a liaison between site supervisor, Operations Manager, and healthcare safety and security officers. They supervise staff on assigned shifts, providing coaching, recognition, and discipline within an approved empowerment range. The Security Supervisor will be working in a hospital/health care environment for UL Health. Security Supervisors ensure that healthcare safety and security officers allow us to accomplish our company’s core purpose which is “to serve, secure and care for the people within UL Health.” The Security Supervisor is responsible for the safety and security of the facilities they protect and supervising the healthcare safety and security officers. Security Supervisors act as a visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions; they detect and report suspicious, unsafe, or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts which may be a threat to the property, clients, guests, or employees at the site. Although essential activities may differ based on the facility at which they work, below are some of the standards. Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity. Patrol on foot, bicycle, or via a vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals. Sound alarms or calls for police, fire department, or EMS in case of fires, medical emergencies, criminal activities, or presence of unauthorized persons. Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency. Provide customer service to our UL Health by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities. Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner. Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by UL Health location. Orally and physically de-escalating individuals and situations, as needed. Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment. Screen patients, visitors, and employees to expedite their admittance to the facilities. May also include patient escort, patient watch, provide safety escort, assist and/or transport deceased to morgue. Must be able to use respiratory protection equipment and tight-fitting respirators according to OSHA standards. Medical and Religious waivers may be granted on a case-by-case basis. Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Verifiable High School Diploma or GED (Certificates of Completion not acceptable)
  • At minimum 5 years of verifiable work experience
  • 6 months of security or customer service experience preferred
  • No criminal charges in the past 7 years.
  • No open/pending charges accepted regardless of level.
  • No criminal charges that would prohibit the possession of a firearm.
  • Must be able to legally purchase, possess, and carry a handgun.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Concealed Carry Deadly Weapons permit.
  • Must be able to obtain a guard card/license, as required by state and local regulations.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skills.
  • As a condition of employment, employees must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
  • As a condition of continued employment, employees must always maintain current active status of all required licenses and must always carry the license while on duty.
  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently.
