About The Position

Busy West Hartford Ophthalmology practice with 10 satellite offices, looking for a Float Front Desk Medical Receptionist to join our team. This position serves as a liaison between our company and its current and potential patients. The successful candidate will be able to accept ownership for effectively solving patient issues, complaints, and inquiries, keeping patient satisfaction at the core of every decision and behavior. Provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks within reception area. Duties/Responsibilities: Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to: Travel between the sites covering call outs, PTO, and busy days Identify patients’ needs, clarify information, research every issue and provide solutions and/or alternatives Route calls to appropriate resources Enter new patient information into EMR system; obtain and verify patient demographics Update existing patient information Scan documents into the patients’ electronic chart Schedule appointments Verify insurance benefits and co-payments Patient check-in and check-out Collect copayments and other patient balances Identify and escalate priority issues Help with mail distribution and proper flow of correspondence

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice
  • Master new skill sets withing 6 months of their introduction
  • Available to work Monday through Friday, as well as occasional Saturdays
  • Excellent data entry and typing skills
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Excellent active listening, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Adaptability to differing personality types
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
  • Dedication to teamwork and maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Must have reliable transportation as this role requires travel
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year Customer Service (Preferred)
  • 1 year Computer Skills (Preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) reading, writing, and speaking skills are a plus
  • Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required
