About The Position

Hays Electrical Services is seeking a top-tier Healthcare Electrical Superintendent with extensive experience in leading large healthcare electrical projects. The ideal candidate will understand the unique challenges of working in active hospital environments where patient safety and continuous operation are paramount. This is not an entry-level position. Hays Electrical Services has over 19 years of experience and has completed hundreds of million-dollar projects in hospitality, commercial, and solar industries, approaching each project with a cooperative mindset to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading large healthcare electrical projects.
  • Successful leadership of large healthcare electrical projects.
  • Understanding of unique challenges of working in active hospital environments.
  • Experience with ground-up hospital construction.
  • Experience with hospital renovations and occupied healthcare facilities.
  • Experience with patient care and non-patient care environments.
  • Experience with active hospital shutdowns and electrical cutovers.
  • Experience developing and executing MOPs (Methods of Procedure/Operations).
  • Experience with strategic planning to minimize disruptions to hospital operations.
  • Experience with generator systems, emergency power, and critical branch distribution.
  • Experience working in operating rooms (ORs), Cath Labs, MRI suites, CT rooms, Imaging Departments, Emergency Departments, ICU, NICU, Labor & Delivery, and other specialty healthcare spaces.
  • Experience with patient headwalls and medical equipment rough-in.
  • Knowledge of healthcare electrical systems in accordance with NEC Article 517 and applicable healthcare standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Nurse Call Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Telecommunications.
  • Strong knowledge of Security and Access Control.
  • Strong knowledge of Lighting Controls.
  • Strong knowledge of Normal and Emergency Power Distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Branch and Life Safety Systems.
  • Experience with equipment coordination and commissioning.
  • Experience with prefabrication planning and implementation.
  • Experience with QA/QC and high-quality installations.
  • Ability to build schedules.
  • Ability to build manpower plans.
  • Ability to execute projects with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive healthcare electrical construction experience.
  • Strong understanding of infection control requirements (ICRA) and working in occupied healthcare environments.
  • Experience with shutdown planning and execution.
  • Experience with commissioning and turnover processes.
  • Strong blueprint and specification reading skills.
  • Strong prefab experience and ability to drive field efficiencies.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead crews of up to 50 electricians.
  • Drive manpower production while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Plan work several weeks ahead and stay ahead of schedule.
  • Coordinate effectively with Project Managers, Owners, Inspectors, and General Contractors.
  • Conduct planning meetings and daily coordination with hospital staff.
  • Mentor foremen and develop field leadership.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients and project teams.
  • Solve problems proactively.
  • Develop and execute MOPs (Methods of Procedure/Operations).
  • Perform strategic planning to minimize disruptions to hospital operations.
  • Oversee work in operating rooms (ORs), Cath Labs, MRI suites, CT rooms, Imaging Departments, Emergency Departments, ICU, NICU, Labor & Delivery, and other specialty healthcare spaces.
  • Manage patient headwalls and medical equipment rough-in.
  • Ensure healthcare electrical systems comply with NEC Article 517 and applicable healthcare standards.
  • Oversee installation and coordination of Fire Alarm Systems, Nurse Call Systems, Telecommunications, Security and Access Control, and Lighting Controls.
  • Manage normal and emergency power distribution, including critical branch and life safety systems.
  • Coordinate equipment and commissioning processes.
  • Plan and implement prefabrication.
  • Ensure QA/QC and high-quality installations.
