About The Position

Analyzes data for creation of statistical reports used for program or process evaluation. Responsible for maintaining databases and extracting data for analysis. Runs and reviews reports, analyzing results in support of operational functions. This position is not eligible for sponsorship now or in the future. Government Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, which requires applicants to be a U.S. Citizen. SCA Benefit Requirements: BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its subsidiary companies have contracts with the federal government subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA). Under the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA), employees are required to enroll in health insurance benefits regardless of others insurance coverage. Employees will receive supplemental pay until they are enrolled in health benefits 28 days after the hire date. Location: This position is full-time and fully onsite in Surfside Beach, SC with PGBA – one of BlueCross BlueShield's South Carolina subsidiary companies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in a job-related field
  • Associates degree plus an extra 2 years job related work experience for a total of 4 years of required work experience OR 6 total years required work experience.
  • 2 Years Research and analysis experience.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, communications, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to use complex mathematical calculations.
  • Advanced knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer support systems.
  • Knowledge of programming languages across various software platforms, using DB2, SQL, and/or relational databases.
  • Ability to analyze data results, determine the source of aberrant statistics, and resolve data issues.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Visual Basic and Macros useful in automating reporting processes.
  • Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Healthcare Claims.
  • Hands-on experience querying and analyzing healthcare data using SQL.
  • SAS experience.
  • 4 Years-Research and analysis experience.
  • Computer programming skills.
  • Negotiation or persuasion skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, extracts and analyzes data to be used in formulation of procedures, processes and other requirements.
  • Provides reports of relevant activity to be used to identify problematic areas and to provide basis for modification and/or elimination of operations issues.
  • Assists with development of complex analysis and sophisticated data compilation, verification, and interpretations to guide divisional efforts.
  • Performs focused analyses as needed.
  • Creates data search programs to identify pertinent data needed to provide supporting documentation for system or operational enhancements/changes.
  • Documents reporting procedures so other staff can run ad hoc reports independently.
  • Designs, codes, and maintains complex database programs for the extraction and analysis of data to support financial and operational decisions.
