About The Position

The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with 1199SEIU Funds to connect qualified candidates with employment opportunities at healthcare facilities in Staten Island, NY. Opportunities are available in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory care centers, clinics, physician practices, and healthcare support facilities. This is not a single job opening. Candidates who apply may be considered for multiple opportunities based on their qualifications, experience, and the hiring needs of participating healthcare employers. Positions may include, but are not limited to: Administrative Assistant / Secretary, Admitting Clerk / Discharge Clerk, Registrar, General Clerk, Ward Clerk / Unit Clerk, Biller / Patient Financial Reviewer, Dietary Worker, Catering Associate, Environmental Services / Housekeeping Worker, Linen Handler, Transporter, Switchboard Operator. These positions are located across various healthcare settings (hospitals, nursing homes, clinics) in Staten Island, NY.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required for all opportunities.
  • All opportunities requiring a minimum of at least six (6) months of related work experience.
  • Candidates must have recent experience in the field for which they are seeking consideration.
  • Candidates must have recent U.S. work experience and sufficient verifiable U.S. employment and/or educational history to successfully complete the required reference verification process.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a stable and consistent work history.
  • Candidates must provide an updated resume and two recent professional references, including full mailing addresses and telephone numbers (references will be verified).
  • Proof of employment eligibility is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education requirements may apply depending on the position.
  • Some positions may require healthcare experience, typing proficiency, bilingual skills, certifications, licenses, and/or a valid driver's license.
  • Candidates who have previously interviewed with 1199SEIU or attended a 1199SEIU orientation are not eligible for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative and clerical support
  • Scheduling appointments and maintaining records
  • Registering, admitting, and assisting patients and visitors
  • Performing data entry and documentation
  • Verifying insurance and processing billing information
  • Delivering customer service and support in healthcare settings
  • Assisting with food service, environmental services, housekeeping, and other operational functions
  • Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with facility policies and procedures
