About The Position

Marathon Petroleum (MPC) is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual to join the Benefits Department as a Health & Welfare Benefits Analyst to support the administration of Marathon Petroleum’s Health & Welfare and related benefit plans. This position will primarily support MPC’s domestic relocation benefit programs. In addition, this role provides data, documentation, and general support to internal and external stakeholders and assists with special projects and ongoing initiatives as assigned. The position is part of a family of jobs with increasing levels of responsibility, competency, and skill. The title and pay grade of the position will be determined by the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience or experience in an area of total rewards required.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to meet organization needs and goals.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, high-output environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient knowledge of the current Microsoft Office suite and enterprise applications such as Workday would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance on assigned plans and policies to management, HR partners, benefits counselors, and other internal partners.
  • Responsible for administration of assigned benefit policies/programs and becoming a subject matter expert in assigned disciplines.
  • Keeps abreast of and analyzes trends and best practices pertaining to employee benefit plans and programs, both within and outside the petroleum industry.
  • Partners cross-functionally with HR Business Partners, Payroll, Legal, and third-party vendors to resolve complex relocation scenarios.
  • Makes recommendations to improve clarity, consistency, operational efficiency, and employee understanding of relocation processes.
  • Gathers data and prepares analysis and reports for internal and external partners.
  • Ensures benefit plans are administered in compliance with applicable plan provisions, regulations and laws; Completes required compliance activities.
  • Provides data, information, and additional support as needed to internal and external stakeholders to facilitate successful completion of special projects.
  • Coordinates and assists with preparation of communications related to benefit plans.
  • Conducts research and analysis regarding employee benefits and makes recommendations on plan design based on results.
