The G110 Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is dedicated to the care of patients undergoing a bone marrow transplant for a diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other cancers. The highly skilled G110 caregivers assist with giving patients high dose chemotherapy followed by autologous, allogeneic, umbilical cord or nonmyeloablative transplant. This unit also provides treatment of graft versus host disease and symptom management for chronic patients. A caregiver in this position works nights, 11:00pm—7:30am.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training, or equivalent coursework

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
