About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a part-time Health Unit Coordinator to join their Portland, OR team. This role provides clerical and office support in an inpatient setting, reporting to Nursing leadership. Responsibilities include answering phones, directing communications, patient registration, maintaining patient information (both paper and computerized), transporting specimens, and procuring necessary supplies, medications, and blood products. The schedule is part-time nights, with observed holidays.

Requirements

3 years experience as Unit Clerk/Unit Secretary/Heath Unit Coordinator
3 years experience with Cerner/Electronic Medical Record
Basic Life Support (BLS, through American Heart Association)
Bilingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

Seeks to provide an environment conducive to family centered care
Is aware of patient/parent and staff boundary issues
Supports the professional interdisciplinary staff in their role to provide expert clinical care to patients
Completes all paperwork for admissions and discharges according to policy and procedure
Demonstrates appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills when dealing with patients, families, visitors and other staff
