Regions Hospital is hiring a friendly, organized, and adaptable individual to join the Neurology/Surgery department as a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)! S10 is a 36-bed unit with all private rooms. It is a comprehensive stroke certified by the Joint Commission, providing the highest level of stroke care. The unit also cares for acutely ill adult & geriatric patients with general and progressive care neurological problems & spinal cord disorders resulting in surgery, and patients with post op spinal drains. Care is also provided for patients with surgical specialty needs including urology and ENT procedures. Individuals who are hired into this role receive a one to two week training about the electronic health system and how to use it effectively to ensure they can be that partner for good. Taking on the role as a Health Unit Coordinator means you will use your communication and critical-thinking skills to support the nursing staff and create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors. As a Health Unit Coordinator, you serve as the first person of contact on the unit and will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors through welcoming behaviors, effective communication, and information sharing. In addition to customer service, this position simultaneously performs clerical/receptionist functions on a patient unit which includes but are not limited to, organizing, and maintaining unit supplies necessary for daily activities, preparing and maintaining patient records, preforming data entry into the electronic system, acting as a resource to medical staff regarding hospital protocols and communicating between staff, patients, families, care providers, and between the unit and other hospital departments.
