About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator provides clerical and system coordination and support for inpatient care areas. This role involves coordinating nursing unit communication and activities with physicians, nursing staff, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families related to patient care. The Health Unit Coordinator is also responsible for managing the desk area of the inpatient unit, facilitating the use of technology, and coordinating downtime procedures.

Requirements

Medical terminology knowledge required or must satisfactorily complete course within first 6 months of employment
Ability to adapt to changes in a fast paced work environment
Exemplary telephone etiquette and customer service skills are required
Possess analytical skills to gather and interpret routine data, maintain semi-complex records and organize work
Ability to communicate clearly

Nice To Haves

A minimum of 6 months experience as a Health Unit Coordinator is preferred
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred
Completion of formal Health Unit Coordinator training program is preferred
Working knowledge of Windows office systems and all office equipment is preferred
HUC Certification preferred
