About The Position

This position serves as a Civilian Health Technician (Surgical) at Womack Army Medical Center, Directorate of Surgery, Department of Surgery. The role involves supporting the health of America’s elite forces at Fort Bragg. Womack Army Medical Center is a fully accredited 110-bed, evidenced-based regional medical center and GME facility serving Fort Bragg, the home of Airborne and Special Operations and the largest U.S. Army installation in the world. It manages several outstanding Primary Care practice sites located in Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, Hope Mills, and Linden Oaks. The location in central North Carolina offers seasonably palatable weather year-round, with proximity to beaches and mountains, and access to various facilities and services.

Requirements

US Citizens
One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with retrieving and positioning patients for surgical procedures; assembling sterile instruments and equipment based on the surgical procedure; providing supplies during procedures as requested by surgical team.
Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Responsibilities

Transport patients from hospital units to the operating room.
Screen patients for completeness of preoperative documentation.
Position the patient for the specific surgical procedure.
Assembling surgical instruments and equipment based on the procedure and the surgeon’s preference.
Monitor safe handling and disposal of sharp and biohazardous materials.
Provide surgical instruments such as sponges, sutures, and solutions as requested by surgical staff.
