About The Position

The Vermont Department of Health (the Department) has an immediate opening for the Health Statistics and Informatics Division Director. This position leads the Division of Health Statistics and Informatics and serves as a member of the Department's Senior Leadership Team. Key responsibilities include providing departmental and programmatic leadership for data activities such as data collection, analysis, reporting, and governance; leading public health data initiatives, including data modernization; supervising and overseeing a large professional and technical staff; directing the strategic activities of informatics programs, public health registries, vital records, and evaluation and analysis functions; ensuring adherence to data standards related to privacy, confidentiality, and governance; providing consultation to officials within the Department and the Agency of Human Services on issues involving data, informatics and data systems; managing strategic and day-to-day division operations; and representing the Department, as requested, in legislative testimony and with the media on matters involving health statistics and informatics. The Division Director reports to the Deputy Commissioner and collaborates closely with key partners across the Department, the Agency of Human Services, and the Agency of Digital Services. The Department of Health supports work-life balance. This position is based in the Waterbury, VT office and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in statistics, public health, public administration, or a related field AND three (3) years or more of experience at a professional level in a public health program involving statistical analysis, INCLUDING two (2) years or more of supervisory experience.
• Master's degree in statistics, public health, public administration, or a related field, AND four (4) years or more at a professional level in a public health program involving statistical analysis, INCLUDING two (2) years or more of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Providing departmental and programmatic leadership for data activities such as data collection, analysis, reporting, and governance
• Leading public health data initiatives, including data modernization
• Supervising and overseeing a large professional and technical staff
• Directing the strategic activities of informatics programs, public health registries, vital records, and evaluation and analysis functions
• Ensuring adherence to data standards related to privacy, confidentiality, and governance
