About The Position

Hypertec is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to join their Human Resources team in Montreal, Quebec. The company is a global technology firm founded in 1984, specializing in High Performance Compute & AI, Data Center Construction, Health, Custom Manufacturing, and Solutions Partner divisions, serving clients in over 80 countries. The role involves leading and managing the OH&S Prevention Program, ensuring compliance with Canadian and U.S. regulations, and serving as the ISO 45001 Management System Owner. The specialist will also be responsible for risk management, facilitating the Joint Health & Safety Committee, developing and delivering H&S training, managing incidents, and reporting on H&S performance for continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3 years of progressive experience in an H&S role within manufacturing or warehouse environments
  • Hands‑on experience managing an ISO 45001‑certified OH&S Management System
  • Working knowledge of Canadian (Quebec and Ontario) and U.S. occupational health & safety regulations
  • Demonstrated experience working with or supporting Joint Health & Safety Committees or equivalent bodies
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and coaching skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Experience supporting multi‑site or cross‑border operations and ability to travel occasionally to company sites
  • Bilingual communication both written and spoken (French / English) is required to support the US and Quebec‑based operations

  • Experience in R&D or laboratory safety environments is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the OH&S Prevention Program in compliance with applicable Canadian, Quebec and U.S. federal, state, and local regulations
  • Serve as the ISO 45001 Management System Owner, including maintenance, continuous improvement, internal audits, corrective actions, and external certification audits
  • Support the integration of OH&S requirements into business processes and operational changes
  • Ensure consistent H&S standards and practices across Canadian and U.S. operations
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and job safety analyses for the organization
  • Partner with internal leaders to implement effective controls using the hierarchy of controls
  • Monitor safety performance indicators, trends, and risk mitigation effectiveness
  • Act as the primary facilitator and advisor to the JHSC
  • Ensure committee effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and alignment with CNESST, OSHA, and ISO 45001 worker participation requirements
  • Encourage meaningful employee participation and open feedback
  • Develop and deliver H&S training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers
  • Promote a positive, prevention‑focused safety culture through visible leadership engagement and employee involvement
  • Welcome, investigate, and respond constructively to employee feedback, safety concerns, near‑miss reports, and suggestions
  • Support managers in fulfilling their H&S leadership responsibilities
  • Lead or support incident and near‑miss investigations using root‑cause analysis methodologies
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions to completion
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting, inspections, and responses (CNESST, OSHA, and other authorities as applicable)
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with legal and ISO requirements
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards for management on H&S performance, risks, and trends
  • Participate in management reviews as required
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and best‑practice adoption across sites
