About The Position

IMMI is looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs and policies that ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment at the IMMI Macon Facility. This role ensures adherence to local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a strong culture of safety. The Health & Safety Specialist collaborates with leadership, operations, and facilities teams to identify risks, drive continuous improvement, reduce incidents, and minimize environmental impact through effective policies, procedures, and training programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or applicable work experience in manufacturing or related industry, or combination thereof.
  • Functional knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and multiple locations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety software platforms and corporate sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture through visibility, communication, and leadership engagement.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning for accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Keep thorough records.
  • Facilitate/accompany team members for medical facility visits for initial injuries and for follow-up visits.
  • Facilitate communications pre-visit and post-visit for all medical facility visits.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and ergonomic improvements.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for IMMI team members and contractors, including onboarding and annual refreshers.
  • Maintain records of safety training, certifications, and compliance activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement and safety awareness at all organizational levels.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report metrics to leadership.
  • Develop and implement strategies for risk reduction and emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Partner with operations, facilities, engineering, and other departments to integrate best practices into daily operations.
  • Advise management on related issues, policy changes, and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for regulatory agencies, inspections, and reporting requirements.
