About The Position

In this role, you will oversee workplace health, safety, sanitation, and environmental compliance activities within the detention facility while ensuring operational areas remain safe, secure, and compliant with government detention standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies. You will monitor facility operations, conduct inspections, investigate safety concerns, and coordinate safety programs designed to reduce workplace hazards and support operational readiness. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with facility leadership, maintenance personnel, healthcare staff, and detention personnel within a secure detention environment.

Requirements

  • Must possess a recognized professional safety certification, such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or an advanced OSHA certification relevant to institutional environments.
  • Must possess a comprehensive working knowledge of federal occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards and compliance guidelines specific to government contracts.
  • Must possess proven experience conducting safety inspections, identifying workplace hazards, and implementing corrective action plans within a secure facility or high-risk institutional environment.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine health and safety inspections of housing units, kitchens, medical areas, maintenance spaces, administrative offices, and operational areas throughout the facility.
  • Monitor workplace conditions to identify safety hazards, sanitation concerns, environmental risks, or operational deficiencies requiring corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, government detention standards, infection prevention procedures, fire safety requirements, and facility safety policies.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, safety incidents, environmental concerns, and operational hazards while preparing detailed incident and corrective action reports.
  • Coordinate safety training activities related to emergency response procedures, workplace safety practices, hazardous materials handling, and infection prevention standards.
  • Maintain records related to inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, compliance activities, and workplace hazard assessments.
  • Monitor the storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials, chemicals, biohazard waste, and sanitation supplies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel, healthcare staff, contractors, and facility leadership regarding safety improvements, operational concerns, and corrective action plans.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, evacuation procedures, fire drills, and facility-wide safety response planning.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and operational assessments conducted by government representatives or regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure safety equipment, emergency supplies, signage, and protective equipment remain available, functional, and properly maintained.
  • Maintain professionalism, strong communication, and attention to detail while supporting safe and compliant detention facility operations.
