About The Position

Finance and Treasury Board is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to join the Employee Safety and Wellness team as a Health & Safety Consultant. In this role, you will play a key part supporting and implementing corporate programs that promote a strong safety culture and enhance workplace wellness.

Requirements

  • University degree in a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of safety-related work experience OR a two (2) year post-secondary diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of safety-related work experience OR a one (1) year post-secondary certificate with a minimum of six (6) years of safety-related work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for this position.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license issued by the Province of New Brunswick is required, along with access to personal transportation.
  • Travel within the province is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework for health and safety, industry standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in training facilitation, and the development and implementation of effective workplace health and safety programs.
  • Ability to operate sound level meters, noise dosimeters, and assess workplace noise exposures.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and deployment of workplace health and safety programs, policies, and tools across GNB Part I departments.
  • Support the implementation of the hearing conservation program and other compliance-driven initiatives in response to updated OHS legislation.
  • Support the ongoing administration of the INTELEX occupational health and safety management system, including acting as a system administrator.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training and communications related to new and updated OHS programs and system deployments.
  • Support the office ergonomics program through provision of basic ergonomic assessments and education and the maintenance and update of office ergonomics reference materials and tools.
  • Monitor OHS legislative and regulatory changes and assist with adapting program elements to ensure continued compliance.
  • Collaborate with GNB departments and stakeholders to support the consistent application of health and safety standards and best practices.
  • Assist with systematic audits, assessments, and evaluations of health and safety programs and initiatives.
