About The Position

IPEX is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for coordinating the implementation and maintenance of the health, safety, and environmental management systems. The Specialist will propose strategies, plan implementation, provide training, and monitor progress. Key duties include performing safety observations, assisting stakeholders, coordinating risk management, supporting safe work practices, and driving the safety culture. The position also facilitates internal audits to ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.

Requirements

Technical Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety from a post-secondary institution.
Minimum 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environment.
Three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Training development and delivery skills.
Strong computer skills and technical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

University degree would be preferred.
CRSP/CRST, CSP, or equivalent will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of various HSE programs, adapting them to local needs and creating site-specific procedures, training, and work instructions.
Drive site-specific HSE activities and enhance engagement in HSE programs and best practices.
Lead the gap analysis process and develop action plans.
Ensure HSE regulatory compliance audits are conducted.
Support and facilitate investigations into HSE non-conformances, accidents, environmental releases, and other incidents.
Ensure documentation and follow-up of recommended preventive and corrective actions.
Report relevant incidents to workers' compensation organizations and/or regulatory authorities and monitor claims management.
Support and facilitate Health and Safety committee initiatives.
Support cross-functional teams in implementing, creating, or modifying site-specific controls, programs, and tools.
Review proposed changes to equipment, materials, and work practices to identify system modification needs and make recommendations.
Create and maintain site-specific HSE reference manuals, standards, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Develop, maintain, and control the distribution of site standards, reference manuals, and materials.
Support internal and external environmental compliance reporting.
Maintain summary data and facilitate reporting on environmental KPIs.
Maintain various HSE files, databases, and programs.
Review and update the hazardous materials program and site-specific training.
Escalate relevant situations to the HSE Business Partner as needed.
