About The Position

The Operations Manager serves as the operational leader for SOKS' Inclusive Health initiatives, ensuring that strategy becomes execution and organizational goals become measurable outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Inclusive Health, this position will build systems, develop a high-performing regional team, establish accountability, and create the operational foundation for a statewide Inclusive Health initiative that will improve healthcare access for Kansans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Operations Manager creates the structure that allows the team to succeed-developing people, building processes, coordinating across departments and partners, and ensuring consistent execution across multiple grants, programs, and regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, Education, or a related field required.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in program operations, project management, or organizational leadership, preferably within a nonprofit, healthcare, public health, education, or community-based organization.
  • Three (3) years of experience developing, leading, and coaching high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing multi-site or statewide programs, initiatives, or operations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing grants, strategic initiatives, or large-scale programs, including tracking performance metrics and operational outcomes.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to be insured under organizational policies.

  • Experience developing operational processes, standard operating procedures, and performance measurement systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Statewide Operational Leadership: Lead the statewide planning, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of Special Olympics Kansas Inclusive Health initiatives. Translate organizational and grant strategies into operational plans, priorities, timelines, and measurable outcomes. Ensure programs are implemented consistently across regions while adapting to local needs and opportunities. Identify operational risks, remove barriers, and implement solutions that improve efficiency and program effectiveness.
  • Develop & Lead the Inclusive Health Programs Team: Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing statewide programs team. Establish clear performance expectations, goals, accountability measures, and professional development opportunities. Monitor team performance through regular coaching, performance feedback, and progress reviews. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement for the Inclusive Health team and SOKS as a whole.
  • Support Organizational Communication and Strategic Decision-Making: Communicate operational priorities, project status, milestones, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders. Synthesize operational data and information to support informed decision-making. Identify emerging needs, recommend operational improvements, and support long-term sustainability planning. Anticipate organizational needs and proactively develop solutions that advance Inclusive Health initiatives.
  • Develop Operational Systems and Standardized Processes: Design, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures, workflows, communication protocols, and decision-making frameworks. Establish operational infrastructure that promotes consistency, accountability, and efficiency across regions. Ensure staff have the tools, resources, training, and support necessary for successful program delivery. Maintain documentation that supports organizational sustainability and knowledge transfer.
  • Oversee Statewide Program Operations: Provide operational leadership for Inclusive Health programs including Healthy Athletes, Youth Programming, Young Athletes, Junior Athletes, Preventative Health Education, Family Health Forums, Health Messenger initiatives, Referral Coordination Services, Rural Healthcare Hubs, and Healthcare Professional Training by: Developing statewide implementation plans, operational calendars, and deployment strategies. Coordinating regional execution and monitoring program performance. Ensuring operational consistency, quality, and scalability across Kansas. Evaluating program outcomes and implementing operational improvements.
  • Direct Volunteers & Clinical Workforce Operations: Develop statewide strategies for volunteer recruitment, engagement, retention, and recognition in close collaboration with the Dir. Of Inclusive Health. Support the recruitment and coordination of Clinical Directors, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community partners. Coordinate workforce planning, training, tracking systems, and operational support for statewide events and initiatives. Expand volunteer and healthcare partner engagement to strengthen statewide program capacity.
  • Manage Grant Operations, Performance Metrics, and Reporting: With support from the Data & Evaluation Coordinator, develop and maintain operational systems supporting grant implementation, compliance, documentation, and reporting. Monitor grant performance measures, operational dashboards, and key performance indicators. Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation supporting grant deliverables and funding requirements. Collaborate with the Data & Evaluation Coordinator to support reporting, data integrity, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Support Collaborative Partnerships: Serve as an operational liaison among internal departments, healthcare partners, volunteers, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Foster collaborative relationships that strengthen program delivery and statewide impact. Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure alignment of organizational priorities and grant objectives.
