About The Position

Join our Infectious Disease Program and contribute to efforts to improve viral hepatitis surveillance and prevention across Alaska. In this position, you’ll collaborate with the Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator and infectious disease database staff to analyze and improve how viral hepatitis data are processed and used. You’ll have opportunities to develop data-processing methods and algorithms, create meaningful data displays, and communicate findings through presentations. This role offers an opportunity to strengthen your skills in epidemiology, data analysis, and public health while making a meaningful impact on disease prevention. The mission of the Division of Public Health is to protect and promote the health of Alaskans. Requirements

  • Competency in Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

  • Education in a biological, health, or behavioral science; public, healthcare, or business administration; data management or a closely related field; AND/OR Progressively responsible paraprofessional experience supporting a health and social service program and delivery system; applying requisite rules, regulations, and terminology used in the work; completing medical billing, medical claims, medical transcriptions, and/or medical coding; and/or using computer applications, databases, and reporting systems required to process, store, and maintain data and information subject to privacy and confidentiality laws and rules.
