About The Position

ProSidian seeks a Health Physicist | Health Physics (HP) for Program Support on an Exempt Basis for Working On-Site (Client Site) in The Southeast | South Atlantic | CONUS Area (Aiken, South Carolina). This is a Contract Contingent role, generally located across the Aiken, South Carolina region, supporting a High-hazard nuclear cleanup environment requiring disciplined staffing, safety, quality, security, and regulatory compliance. The role is aligned with the GSA Labor Category: Engineer / Scientist II and focuses on ProSidian Strategic Resourcing and Professional Staff Augmentation for Health Physics (HP) Solutions and Services. We seek candidates with relevant Nuclear And Environmental Management Sector Experience to support professional services engagement for clients such as SRMC. This position may be converted to a Full-Time ProSidian employed W-2 Position. The Health Physicist will provide services and support aligned with the Health Physics (HP) Functional Area / Swim Lane / Category Discipline in the Nuclear And Environmental Management Industry Sector. This role focuses on Human Capital | Project Management | Engineering | Environmental | Compliance | Risk Management | IT Effectiveness | Business Process | Training Knowledge Management Solutions for clients such as Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) supporting the Liquid Waste Program. The Health Physicist will provide Health Physics (HP) Services and Solutions as a ProSidian Engagement Team Member, supporting health physics activities through planning, analysis, coordination, documentation, compliance, quality assurance, and stakeholder support. The role involves embedding sound radiological controls into designs and modifications to protect workers, the public, and the environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nuclear Engineering, health physics or applicable science or Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university OR; Bachelor’s degree in nuclear Engineering, health physics or applicable science or Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and 2+ years relevant professional experience.

  • Radiological design; shielding and dose calculations; ALARA; contamination controls; radiation monitoring; technical reviews; DOE and ANSI requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nuclear Engineering, health physics or applicable science or Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university OR; Bachelor’s degree in nuclear Engineering, health physics or applicable science
  • Knowledge of health physics concepts, principles and techniques; general knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, DOE Orders, and ANSI standards that provide guidance and requirements for radiation protection programs.
  • Familiarity with MCNP, SCALE, Origen ARP, MicroShield, HOTSPOT codes.

Responsibilities

  • Applies general radiological Engineering and health physics principles learned through formal education and work experience for multiple facilities/projects as assigned.
  • Provides technical, operational, and regulatory guidance on radiological protection issues working directly with representatives from assigned facilities/projects.
  • Performs standard assessments, calculations, and analyses to determine monitoring for proper radiological protection controls and shielding required to meet or exceed company/regulatory standards, while considering the economic impacts.
  • Prepares standard technical documentation and models to support calculations.
  • Manages (tracking, estimating, etc.) and communicates changes to assigned schedule.
  • Conducts peer review of tests and calculations for standard Project s as assigned.
  • Stays current on facilities, Project s, processes, and regulatory procedures.
  • Supports senior members of the group while working independently on less complex tasks.
  • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) for radiation protection procedures that perform standard radiological calculations, calibrations, data reviews, regulatory reviews, and assessments.
  • Represents the group semi-independently in meetings based on familiarity with Code of Federal Regulations, DOE Orders, 5Q RadCon Manual and Site Engineering Standards.
  • Presents technical reports and lectures from assigned tasks to peers, facility personnel, and management.
  • May perform research and analyze new equipment to develop cost-effective solutions and improvements.
