BWXT, Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is seeking experienced professionals interested in continuing their careers as a Health Physicist or Radiological Engineer in our Lynchburg facilities!

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Physics or related engineering or science, or related field and two (2) years related experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of employment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) "Q" clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Wide industry experience such as, CNMT, NPP, Uranium and TRU is desired
  • Certification by the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory compliance assessments
  • Radiological safety oversight
  • Providing radiological site characterization and remediation support
  • Perform internal dose assessments and environmental release modeling
  • Perform radiological evaluations for configuration management of new or changing facilities, equipment, processes, and procedures
  • Perform routine surveillance, inspections and audits where material is used and stored to ensure compliance with agreement State and Federal License requirements
  • Provide operating areas with specific radiation protection professional input and oversight
  • Maintain and operate computer codes for Shielding, Bioassay, Environmental Dispersion, Emergency Response, etc.
