As part of our continuous efforts to optimize performance and drive success The Health Physicist Trainee may be eligible for an annual promotion. The incumbent may advance to a higher grade within the classification series, based on satisfactory work performance. Progressive grade levels include: Health Physicist I – Grade 15 ($63,154 -$99,603) Health Physicist II – Grade 16 ($67,309- $106,155) The Health Physicist Trainee will receive training to support required inspections, investigations, and other regulatory activities. Duties will include processing registrations, preventive maintenance, and certifications to protect the public and occupational personnel from unnecessary exposure to radiation from x-ray-producing machines. The incumbent will also participate in monthly staff meetings and respond to radiation emergencies as needed.

Requirements

Four years of experience in performing the recognition, evaluation and control of radiological hazards to employees and the general public.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 credit hours in mathematical, physical or biological sciences for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health and Medical Physicist classifications or Health and Medical Physicist specialty codes in the Physicist field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
Must be legally authorized under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act to be hired in the position for which you apply.

Experience providing service to customers in a professional setting which must have included personal interaction with members of the general public or other customers.

Responsibilities
