About The Position

The Boston Public Health Commission's Center for Public Health Science and Innovation is seeking a motivated intern to support coordination, stakeholder engagement, and publication workflows for the Health of Boston (HOB) initiative. Health of Boston is a citywide public health reporting effort focused on health outcomes, health equity, and the social and structural conditions that shape health in Boston communities. This internship is ideal for a student interested in population health data, program coordination, and health communications. The intern will work closely with epidemiologists and program staff to support the development, organization, and dissemination of public health reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.
  • Commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in public health, public policy, epidemiology, health communications, community health, or a related field.
  • Interest in population health data, health equity, and public health reporting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working collaboratively across teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with data visualization, presentation development, or public health reporting preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint, preferred.
