About The Position

Anoka Technical College is seeking an experienced unlimited full-time Health Information Technology faculty who will serve as the program director. The program director will be responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program and will be given sufficient release time to perform this work. While the program is fully online, some in-person attendance for campus activities is mandatory. Additionally, the program director will instruct students in a range of courses across the assigned curriculum. Part of the faculty role is to assess student competencies as described in the curriculum to support student success. Additional duties to include but are not limited to: Deliver online instruction across multiple levels and learning styles. Attend in-person meetings, committee meetings, and other college events. Maintain consistent communication with students through office hours, email, and telephone. Participate in departmental maintenance, program and curricular meetings, accreditation, and information sessions. Develop curriculum/lesson plans to maintain relevancy with the status of the field and accrediting body. Support the mission, vision, and core values of Anoka Technical College. Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice through inclusive educational practices. Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean, Vice President or President Salary Range: Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience after a job offer has been accepted and currently range from $48,365 - $99,016. Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs. Please note, Initial Step placement is established by the MSCF contract in which sets salary limitations to what a new Faculty member is able to begin at. This will differ from the maximum salary range in this posting. For more information, please visit the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health information technology or a bachelor’s degree in any subject and an associate’s degree in health information technology
  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in health information technology
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Previous teaching experience in post-secondary and/or vocational technical education
  • Experience with assessment of student learning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design and instructional design
  • Experience with online teaching platforms
  • Coursework in teaching pedagogies and preparation in principles and methods of evaluation
