About The Position
We are seeking a Temporary Health Information Specialist to support Release of Information (ROI) services at Boston Medical Center. This role is covering an employee on FMLA leave and is expected to last a few months. This is an onsite, patient-facing position responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and HIPAA-compliant processing of medical record requests in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Nice To Haves
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
- Computer proficiency and data entry accuracy
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- VROI training supported
- On-the-job, onsite training provided within the first 30 days
Responsibilities
- Provide phone support to patients, providers, and authorized requestors
- Process Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and within required turnaround times
- Fax, scan, and manage incoming and outgoing medical record requests
- Burn medical images to CDs and facilitate electronic image sharing
- Perform data entry and basic administrative support functions
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and facility privacy policies
- Lift up to 20 lbs as needed
