About The Position

At Jefferson House, we provide excellent long-term care and rehabilitation services to seniors in the greater Hartford area for over 120 years. We are comprised of a skilled and caring staff which provides seniors with Nursing Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Spiritual Services, and Social Services, aimed at caring for the whole individual. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DNS), the Specialist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Record Processing/Completion and Release of Information (ROI), prioritizing the daily workload. The Specialist serves as contact person for external auditors requiring access to Jefferson House’s electronic health record, while providing the highest level of quality customer service; Serves as a contact person for issues that require ROI escalation; Supports the overall goals within Revenue Cycle to minimize preventable denials, promote patient safety and the integrity of the medical record. The Specialist safeguards and protects the patient’s right to privacy, as outline by Health Information Management Department policies, HIPAA, Federal and State Statutes.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years working experience in Health Information Management operations or ROI.
  • Computer literate and possess experience with Microsoft Office suite, email and other software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with ability to maintain composure in difficult and complex communication with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of professionals.
  • Working knowledge of information systems to include paper-based and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities
