About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk for its assisted living facility, Cannon House. The role involves managing and processing electronic medical records, including scanning, indexing, distributing documentation, releasing patient records according to privacy protocols, and documenting patient health care records. The position also includes answering and transferring phone calls, greeting guests, and escorting residents to appointments. Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish is required.

Requirements

  • Must be bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Able to follow instructions, work as part of the medical clinic team, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Must be patient-centered with a positive attitude and work well with others.
  • Good organizational and written skills are a must.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least six months office experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work in the Medical Field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, sort and distribute incoming resident and clinical documents, whether received via fax, mail, courier or electronic transmission.
  • Scan incoming and received resident and clinical documents, residents/patient health records accurately and efficiently to Point Click Care (PCC) within 1 day of receipt.
  • Print, fax or export resident/patient health records in response to providers requests or authorized external entities, using established Sea Mar Policies and Procedures and following state and federal law, including HIPAA.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions regarding patient health care records in Point Click Care (PCC).
  • Communicate disclosure status with external requestors.
  • Responsible for filing records either alphabetically or by established color code system or filing system, and rechecks filing for proper location in the resident/patient charts.
  • Assist nursing manager (Resident Care Manager) and Floor nurses in locating resident records, filing test results and other patient reports.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
