About The Position

The Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) is seeking a Health Information Coordinator 2 to manage and organize healthcare data within the Carelogic - Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and secure collection, storage, and retrieval of client information, while maintaining compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and agency policies. The incumbent will collaborate with healthcare professionals to maintain the integrity and accessibility of health records. MHSD serves adults, children, and families in Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes, focusing on individuals who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible/covered, or suffering from mental illness, addiction, or developmental/intellectual disabilities. Requirements

  • One year of experience in administrative services in a medical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating client registration and intake, ensuring accurate data collection and compliance with agency policies.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for clients while supporting clinic operations and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Collecting, verifying, and entering client demographic, financial, and clinical information in the EHR.
  • Explaining clinic processes, rights/responsibilities, and completing intake documentation.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and assisting with Medicaid enrollment.
  • Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming appointments, including telehealth readiness.
  • Maintaining required logs, reports, and documentation.
  • Managing calls, voicemails, and client communications.
  • Providing backup support for front desk operations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
