About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for coordination of all hospital and professional Radiology coding and abstracting functions in the Health Information Management Department. Reviews clinical documentation in accordance with documentation/coding guidelines and outside regulatory agency requirements. Participates in the development of processes and educational materials to ensure staff and physician compliance. Assists in overseeing the quality, accuracy and productivity of the Radiology Coders and coded/abstracted data.

Requirements

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum 5 years of acute multi-specialty hospital coding experience
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 CM, ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Credentialed as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H
  • Ability to work independently and be a self starter
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
