About the role Health Fitness Professional Springfield, MA | Full-Time | Monday–Friday| No Weekends Turn your fitness experience into a stable, full-time career — with predictable hours and commission potential. HealthFitness is seeking a full-time Health Fitness Professional to join our team at a corporate client site in Springfield, MA (approximately 25 miles north of Hartford, CT). You’ll support members through personal training, fitness programming, and daily facility operations in a supportive, non-sales-driven environment. Compensation & Earning Opportunity Along with an hourly base rate between $20-$25/hour, this role offers 60% commission on personal training services, giving you the ability to grow your income while doing the work you enjoy. Schedule & Location Full‑time: 40 hours/week Monday–Friday only (no weekends) Combination of opening and midday shifts between 5:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On‑site Monday–Thursday; Fridays are typically work from home (subject to business needs)

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field (Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Exercise Physiology or Athletic Training, etc.) or 2+ years’ fitness and wellness industry experience, along with fitness industry certification(s) from a HealthFitness approved provider.
  • Current Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Institute, or American Safety & Health Institute required by start date. (Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant).
  • Group Exercise certification and NCCA‑accredited Personal Training certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT, or NETA will be required within 9 0-120 days of hire; may be eligible for reimbursement program.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises facility; interacts with participants and monitors equipment and participant safety.
  • Provides individual and group exercise instruction; educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
  • Coordinates and leads a variety of HealthFitness and program-specific health improvement programs & promotions.
  • Conducts fitness testing and assessments and advises participants of results; designs individualized programs to meet the participant’s interests, abilities and goals.
  • Researches health & fitness educational topics and identifies appropriate participant educational materials; conducts health education seminars/presentations.
  • Participates in membership drives to acquire new participants; enrolls new participants and conducts facility, program and equipment orientations.
  • Promotes program offerings and conducts outreach activities to increase participation and re-engage inactive participants.
  • Creates and maintains bulletin boards, newsletters and other marketing & communication materials.
  • Coordinates internship program; oversees the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of student interns.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.
