The Health Educator, under general supervision, implements evidence-based health strategies, policies, programs, and services—particularly the YAM (Youth Aware of Mental Health) program—for students in grades 8–12. The role works with school districts, communities, and providers across the region in face-to-face settings; provides health training and guidance; conducts outreach on and off campus; and supervises student staff, interns, and/or peer educators. Training is provided. This is a state- and federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC), which works to address mental health challenges affecting children, adolescents, and perinatal women and improve the state’s mental health care system. Texas A&M University is a Health Related Institution for the TCMHCC. The employee must be available for after-hours events, attend and conduct trainings at off-site locations, and pass additional background screening, including FBI fingerprinting for school partnerships. A flexible working arrangement agreement is required upon offer. The position is grant funded, so future employment may depend on future funding.
